Violet Fold

I tied a simple piece of violet silk into a knot and photographed it up close. I was interested in the folds around the knot: where the fabric came together, where small gaps opened, and how the light moved across it.

The violet colour looked pale in the light and much darker between the folds. Up close, I could also see the fine threads in the silk. I tried different angles and kept finding another curve to follow.

I liked how tying a simple knot could create so many shapes. If I untie it and start again, it will look a little different. This photo keeps one of those shapes—a small moment from an afternoon spent playing with fabric and light.
