Quiet Ember

The rim of a plastic paint pot, with dried paint still on it. Up close, the yellow, orange, and deep reddish-brown colours caught my eye. Against the dark background, this little bit of paint almost seemed to glow.

I moved in close with the camera. One edge of the paint was sharp, while the colours behind it slowly blurred. I liked seeing the pale grey plastic beside the warm colours, and finding that thin, bright edge again from a different angle.

While painting, I would probably pay little attention to this detail. This time, it was nice to spend a while looking at it. A little paint on the rim of a pot and some light were enough to make me pick up the camera.
