Peeling Quiet

I photographed a detail of a door damaged in a flat fire. Luckily, no one was hurt, and the door has since been replaced. Its surface still showed signs of the heat: damaged layers, changes in colour, and small marks that had not been there before.

Up close, I looked at how the material had changed. In some places, the old surface was still visible. In others, the fire had changed it completely. I focused on a small detail, but it was hard not to think about what had happened around it.

For me, the story is part of this photo. The door is gone, life has moved on, and repairs have begun. The picture keeps a small trace of that time, when the marks were still there.
