Glass Trace

I photographed a detail of a handmade glass ornament. Up close, I was interested in its curves and the way light passed through them or shone on the surface. One small detail was enough to keep me busy for quite a while.

I tried different lighting and camera angles. Sometimes a tiny movement changed the view: one line became brighter, while another disappeared into shadow. I enjoyed watching the same shape show something different each time.

As I worked, I thought about the person who had shaped this glass. Now I was exploring their work with my camera. It was nice to spend time with it and find a detail I might miss from farther away.
