Glass Core

I photographed a detail of a glass ornament up close. The patterns around its centre caught my attention. Light passed through each small shape differently, creating bright edges beside dark areas of glass.

I changed the camera angle and the lighting, watching the reflections move. Around the centre, I kept finding another detail: a bright spot or a fine scratch. I enjoyed following them and finding an angle where the shapes came together.

Up close, the glass looked heavy and almost solid. Yet light still passed through it and flashed on its surface. My eyes kept returning to the centre before wandering back through the patterns around it.
