Crimson Facets

I photographed a broken bicycle reflector up close. I was drawn to the small, repeating shapes that reflect light on the road. In front of the camera, I watched the edges shine while the spaces between them stayed dark.

I changed the lighting and the camera angle. With each small movement, another part caught the light. Scratches and broken edges interrupted the pattern, giving me more details to explore.

The reflector was damaged, but it still caught the light. I enjoyed spending time with an everyday object I might hardly notice on a bicycle. Up close, its small shapes filled the picture, still doing a little of what they were made to do.
