Blue Cells

I photographed a piece of blue plastic with raised bubbles up close. I was interested in their shapes and how the light moved across them. The blue looked very bright in some places and deeper and darker between the bubbles.

I tried different lighting and camera angles. A small movement shifted a reflection and brought another shape into view. Up close, I could also see fine marks on the plastic that I would easily miss from farther away.

I liked the quiet rhythm of these repeating shapes. For a while, I followed them with the camera, noticing the small differences between them. The light looked different on each bubble, so there was always another detail I wanted to explore.
