Amber Veins

I placed a leaf in a bowl and poured water over it. Up close, I watched how its surface changed. The veins, fine folds, and shades of brown showed new details under the water.

As I played with the lighting, some areas took on a warm amber glow, while others caught cooler reflections. Small spots and uneven edges appeared between the veins. I enjoyed following these lines and seeing how a small change in light could make the same leaf look different.

I like simple experiments that keep me behind the camera longer than expected. A leaf and a little water gave me plenty to explore. This photo holds one moment from that time: the fine veins of the leaf, with light passing across them.
